11/30/11 - Day of Dancing

Easy breakfast, straight out of packages. I wasn't a huge fan of the key lime flavor, but the chocolate peanut butter Builder's bar is just as good as always. High protein start to the day, plus lots of vitamins. Still haven't cut up my B complex into smaller chunks yet.
Total calories: 430

Another typical McDonald's lunch. I needed to do some work for school during my lunch break, so convenience won out over everything again.
Total calories: 780

Clif bar and a bottle of Diet Coke to give me a little pick-me-up as I'm teaching my labs.
Total calories: 270

For dinner I had a sandwich from Jimmy John's (a #1 with added sprouts and dijon mustard) along with a couple ounces of peppered jerky (for a nice protein boost) and a big cup of diet coke from the gas station. The night was busy, since I was working in the physics building right up until I left to go dancing, so this was a nice way to get food and not keep eating McDonald's.

No explicit exercising today since my body is still recovering from me shocking it into service with this new being-accountable plan of action, and the fact that today is Wednesday and that means the local swing dancing club is hosting a dance. Several hours of dancing to upbeat music at varying tempos. Certainly less of a workout than a long-distance run, but it's something. I don't know how many calories it burns though, particularly without knowing how many dances I'll actually participate in, so I won't count it in my "calories burned."

OVERALL: 2307 net calories (this is 187 above the recommended number set by MyFitnessPal to lose 1/2 pound a week, but below the number to maintain my current weight. I can do better, but it's not terrible).

11/29/11 - First Steps

Great start to the day; a pair of sunny-side up eggs, three strips of center cut bacon, two slices of light five-grain bread, and a cup of honey-flavored greek yogurt.
Total Calories: 455

The center cut bacon is a wonderful change from the turkey bacon I normally have. It has a much higher protein to calorie ratio (nicely in that 1:10 ratio I'm hoping for), and it fries up wonderfully. The only problem is that it lets out a lot of grease into the pan. I soaked up an entire paper towel's worth and there was still plenty left to cook the eggs in. It ended up leaving the bacon considerably smaller when they finished than when they started. As a comparison, 14 g of turkey bacon is one slice, 14 g of center cut is two slices. The calories per slice is equal, however.

Standard lunch. I've had this pretty much every day for the past who-knows-how-long. I'd like to find an alternative but it's very cheap and convienient and that lets it win out for now.
Total Calories: 780

New snacks for the day. Pistachios are great snacking food because you can't wolf them down. Same thing with the jerky, which also has tons of protein for its calories.
Total Calories: 330

Dinner courtesy of SPS. We had a Bad Movie Night where we watched Pitch Black, and ate pizza and drank soda. I had a couple glasses of diet coke and two slices of pepperoni pizza.
Total Calories: 660

My muscles all felt sore from working out yesterday, so I took it easy on the elliptical and ran a bit over three miles in 30 minutes. My pace went from 5ish mph to 7ish mph over the course of the run, and I burned 347 calories.

 OVERALL: 1868 net calories

11/28/11 Beginning

Here's where I am right now. 12 pounds above where I want to be. Time to change that.
"Before" - this is after quite a bit of work already, but it's the start of this project
